True leaded glass is made with smaller pieces of colored glass that are used to create a larger image or idea. These pieces of glass can be a wide array of colors and textures. The glass artist can add additional detail through fusing, sandblasting or painting the orginal piece of glass.

Leaded glass is created by using lead cane (strips of lead with various sizes grooves) where the individual pieces of glass are held together by the lead cane and solder.
